Today, Jars Of Clay's own keyboardist, Charlie Lowell, issued the following band news update that includes talk of their forthcoming new album, a new Christmas audio book read by the band, live Christmas music video, and more! Read on...
"Happy Holidays!!Greetings from Nashville, where we are slowing down, just for a few days before we speed back up. It's been a great 6 weeks or so since the Music Builds tour ended. We jumped right back in the studio and wrote and recorded two more new songs, and are just this week finishing the mixing process of this new record. We have 13 songs we are really excited to share with you! It was a long year, putting this record together in different pieces and seasons, but we have all been so surprised and grateful to see it all finished this month. We're shooting for a Spring 09 release... it feels like a long way off, but will be here before long!
We're also putting pieces in place to hit the road next week for the Love Came Down Christmas Tour with Sara Groves, Sixpence None the Richer, and Leeland. Check our website for dates, cities and details. It's gonna be a really rich night of music and stories. We do hope that many of you can come see us, slow down a little bit, and reflect on Christmas together. We tried to get out to the West Coast, and it just didn't work out logistically this year- we're very sorry and will try even harder next year! If you need some fresh Christmas music this year, check out new CD projects from Sara Groves and Sixpence, as well as two of my other current favorites, Rosie Thomas and Mindy Smith. Great stuff, some brilliant re-interpretations as well as nostalgic classics.
We are offering to you this year our Advent Reflection Book: Peace Is Here, in audio form. This is an exclusive for our fans, it's currently not available anywhere else. We each read our reflections and put them together into an audio book. We hope you enjoy it! HERE's the link where you can find it: http://www.werkshop.com/store/item.action?artist_id=923&cat_id=1&item_id=5086
We also have a brand new live video of "Drummer Boy" from our Christmas Tour last year with Third Day. HERE's a link to check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb0hAPimGrU
On a personal note, I will be putting up a few of my Jars awards from years past. I've been cleaning out some closets.. check eBay this weekend after Thanksgiving to see what I am passing on to the highest bidder! (Good Christmas gifts!?)
And lastly, I'm excited to start an Advent Poetry Blog this season. Every day from November 30 through December 25th I will post a new Advent/Christmas poem by various poets and authors. I always love the idea of Advent- waiting and anticipating the Coming of the Christ-child, but December ends up being one of the busiest and most manic months of the year. So this is my attempt to slow down a little bit, and use these poems as a tool to be aware and thoughtfully "wait". It may or may not be your thing, but I hope you'll pop in and check it out. I promise it won't get too weird. ;) Please bookmark this URL: http://adventpoetry.blogspot.com
May you enjoy this festive season!! Go easy on the eggnog, and tie a yellow ribbon round the yule log, or something like that.
Cheers,
Charlie Lowell
